Joe Andrew's Open Letter
by Joe Andrew - May 1, 2008

Dear Friends:

I have been inspired.

Today I am announcing my support for Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States of America.  I am changing my support from Senator Clinton to Senator Obama, and calling for my fellow Democrats across my home State of Indiana, and my fellow super delegates across the nation, to heal the rift in our Party and unite behind Barack Obama.

The hardest decisions in life are not between good and bad or right and wrong, but between two goods or two rights.  That is the decision Democrats face today.  We have an embarrassment of riches, but as much as we may love our candidates and revel in the political process that has brought Presidential politics to places that have not seen it in a generation, we cannot let our family affair hurt America by helping John McCain.

Here is my message, explained in this lengthy letter that I hope is perceived as ... more

Suspense and Anxiety
by Don Julio

Today Democratic political junkies are in a state of suspense and some anxiety. Tuesday will be a critical day with primary election results rolling in from Indiana and North Carolina. Clearly, Obama is well ahead but he hasn't yet 'closed the deal' and Clinton is doggedly snapping at his heels. An ugly spectacle.

The TV talking heads say that if Obama wins in both states, the handwriting is clearly on the wall and Hillary must say Adios. If she wins in Indiana but loses in North Carolina, (that result is widely predicted) the nasty campaign goes on as before. BUT in the unlikely event that Hillary wins BOTH, all bets are off and her challenge will become more powerful. The result could be unmitigated chaos, a revolt at the Convention in Denver, and the election of John McCain for a third Bush term!

So next Tuesday becomes decisive and, without exaggeration, the future of our nation hangs in the balance. Me? I'm betting on Barrack Obama. Stay tun... more

The Nightmare
by Don Julio

It's certain that Hillary will not get out of the race soon. Her campaign charges along without any regard for the long-term health of the Democratic Party. The next days are crucial with so much depending on Indiana and North Carolina, but meanwhile we're hearing statement after statement that the super-delegates must be absolutely free to favor a candidate regardless of polls, vote counts, etc. Amid all the media chatter it seems clear that if Barack Obama is screwed out of the nomination the, Democratic ranks will be in tatters, and next January 20th we'll witness the inauguration of John McCain.

The nightmare is that we'll see George Bush and Dick Cheney sitting on the platform, grinning from ear to ear!

Get OUT Already. Hillary is Hurting Our Chances!
by Giselle Fernandez

I think it seriously ironic that despite her endless barrage on Barrack, Hillary Clinton copies everything successful about his candidacy to try and salvage her own.

Now she's going after grass roots money and comes up with a quick ten million asking for five bucks on the internet. This is how Barrack earned tens of millions more than she in the first place. Hillary just went after big established money. Barrack understood the power of the people and reached out to all sectors for fundraising from the get go. He knows grassroots--he knows change comes from the bottom up and put value on the small contributions to add up. Hillary is just figuring this out in desperation and then attacks Barrack for having the audacity to outspend her and still lose in Pennsylvania. She should have raised more money with all her supposed experience and name recognition, and attacks Barack for being smarter than she!!! She was supposed to win bigger in Pennsylvania a... more

Bigger is not Better
by Giselle Fernandez

It truely is stunning to me how Hillary can win despite lies and voting for the war. I really do have a hard time getting it.

It just is so clear to me that Barack Obama is thee leader for these troubled times--the voice of a people that make up a diverse America that want their country back again.

But the establishment and old guard that owe the Clintons put on the squeeze and loyalties trump the best choice even if if it is best for the country.

I always bring up this rabinacle question often posed to students--is it better to be loyal or honest. After long and intense soul searching, the students, guided by the rabbi's come up with the answer. When being honest, you are being most loyal. And the honesty is that while loyalties may be called in for Clinton, she is not the best choice for this country so in casting that loyal vote, those adherent to Bill and thus Hillary are doing the nation and our future a disservice.

My Vote's for Obama (if I could vote)...
by Michael Moore

Friends,

I don't get to vote for President this primary season. I live in Michigan. The party leaders (both here and in D.C.) couldn't get their act together, and thus our votes will not be counted.

So, if you live in Pennsylvania, can you do me a favor? Will you please cast my vote -- and yours -- on Tuesday for Senator Barack Obama?

I haven't spoken publicly 'til now as to who I would vote for, primarily for two reasons: 1) Who cares?; and 2) I (and most people I know) don't give a rat's ass whose name is on the ballot in November, as long as there's a picture of JFK and FDR riding a donkey at the top of the ballot, and the word 'Democratic' next to the candidate's name.

Seriously, I know so many people who don't care if the name under the Big 'D' is Dancer, Prancer, Clinton or Blitzen. It can be Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Barry Obama or the Dalai Lama.

Well, that sounded good last year, but over the past two... more

Hillary's Tipping Point
by Don Julio

When the history of this Bickersons (remember them?) campaign is written, it will be stated that the tipping point that sent Hillary to the showers was her ludicrous canard about her Bosnian non-crisis. Among potential voters that nonsense stamped Hillary, not merely as a make-up artist, but as a dope as well.

It's hard to understand why she provoked that utterly unnecessary flap, but the deed is done and history will record it as a serious, and perhaps fatal, exposure of her judgement and veracity.

Perhaps she has learned too late that little things mean a lot, especially when they shine a spotlight on a person's character. Adios, Mrs. C.

The Debate a Total Bust
by Giselle Fernandez

CNN must be dancing today. They own the debates this election and clearly we missed the Wolf at the helm! Instead of Blitzer, we got blitzed by The American Broadcasting Network (ABC) which didn't do Americans much justice last night in the handling of what I hope will be the last debate between rivals Clinton and Obama. It was painful on every front, we learned nothing new from the candidates and got a strong dose of what's wrong with T.V. journalism in this country. Thanks guys. At a time when T.V. news has a real opportunity to do its real job and be a trusted voice and venue for solid information Americans can turn to, we were again betrayed by stupidity, cronyism and sensationalism at the expense of real news.

The so called prestigious high priced newsmen, Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos, treated the Pennsylvania debate like a Vegas prize fight, jumping eagerly in the ring, chomping at the bit, to whip up a rumble, but failed to elic... more

Eyes on the Prize
by Norm Drechsel

John McCain confided in his inner circle that he still believes Hillary Clinton can win the Democratic nomination.  So why would McCain choose to downplay Hillary's 'tall tale' of braving sniper fire in Bosnia?  Because he knows he can beat her in November.  It's really that simple folks.  The Republicans would rather square off against Hillary Clinton than Barack Obama in the general election.

Pennsylvanians, Indianians, North Carolinians ... the hopes of all Americans who want to bring about real change in Washington rest in your capable hands.  Hillary supporters... you can vote for your candidate or vote for your party.  Please keep your eyes on the prize.  The Denver convention in August only sets the stage for the real battle to come this fall.

The Anatomy of a Lie
by Giselle Fernandez

Let's shift focus away from the Clinton agenda of slinging arrows at Barack Obama and focus entirely on the latest lie that tells all you need to know about Hillary Clinton.

Let's just zero in on that lie she didn't just tell once, but countless times about her mission to Bosnia where she said she arrived under sniper fire.

Not only did she say greeting ceremonies had to be thwarted because of sniper fire on the tarmac, she also said she had to be whisked to safety to avoid attack.

On 'Meet The Press' Sunday morning, Tim Russert played four or five video clips of the campaigning Clinton not only asserting this fabrication over and over, but embellishing the danger each and every time with every recounting.

She said she remembered distinctly being raced to safety once arriving in the war zone, only to be totally exposed by video of her greeting a charming little Bosnian girl handing her flowers on the tarmac with no whiz... more
